Liturgical Season:

2 Tm 2:7-13

7Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.e

8* Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, a descendant of David: such is my gospel,f 9for which I am suffering, even to the point of chains, like a criminal. But the word of God is not chained.g 10Therefore, I bear with everything for the sake of those who are chosen, so that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, together with eternal glory.h 11This saying is trustworthy:

If we have died with him

we shall also live with him;i

12if we persevere

we shall also reign with him.

But if we deny him

he will deny us.j

13If we are unfaithful

he remains faithful,

for he cannot deny himself.k

Mt 22:41-46

The Question About David’s Son.* 41m While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus questioned them,* 42* saying, “What is your opinion about the Messiah? Whose son is he?” They replied, “David’s.” 43He said to them, “How, then, does David, inspired by the Spirit, call him ‘lord,’ saying:

44n ‘The Lord said to my lord,

“Sit at my right hand

until I place your enemies under your feet”’?

45* If David calls him ‘lord,’ how can he be his son?” 46o No one was able to answer him a word, nor from that day on did anyone dare to ask him any more questions.
