His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos, Eparchial Bishop of St. Mary, Queen of Peace Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy in the USA and Canada, attended the 25th Anniversary 9/11 Memorial Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York on September 10, 2026.

The Mass, celebrated by Archbishop Ronald Hicks of the Archdiocese of New York, drew an assembly of cardinals, bishops, priests, religious, and faithful, along with survivors, first responders, and government officials, including former President Joseph R. Biden Jr., Mayor Zohran Mamdani, and Governor Kathy Hochul.

Eparchial Clergy Gather in New York for Annual Retreat

Bishop Philipos Mar Stephanos and sixteen priests of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy gathered at the Don Bosco Retreat Center in Rockland, New York, for the Eparchy’s annual clergy retreat from July 26 to 30, 2026.

Rev. Fr. Jolly Karimpil served as the retreat preacher, leading the clergy through a series of spiritual conferences and periods of prayer, silence, and personal reflection. The five-day gathering gave the priests an opportunity to step away from their regular pastoral responsibilities and devote focused time to renewing their spiritual and priestly lives.

On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, Bishop John Barres of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, accompanied by Vicar General Rev. Fr. Eric Fasano and his priest secretary, Rev. Fr. Lachlan Cameron, paid a fraternal visit to our Eparchial Chancery. Aboon Mar Stephanos warmly welcomed the visiting delegation and graciously hosted them to a beautiful Indian dinner, offering a wonderful evening of fellowship, conversation, and hospitality between our two communities.
