Clergy Retreat 2025 Deepens Spiritual Renewal and Unity
The Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy of the United States and Canada held its annual clergy retreat from October 13–17, 2025, at Jericho House, located at 10845 Rathfon Road, Port Colborne, Ontario, L3K 5V4. The retreat was preached by Rev. Fr. Roni George VC, whose spiritual leadership enriched the gathering with profound insights and moments of grace.
Blessing of St. Thomas Syro-Malankara Catholic Church & Sanctuary, London, Canada
On August 31, 2025, the parish family of St. Thomas Syro-Malankara Catholic Church in Dorchester (London) joyfully gathered to celebrate the blessing of their newly renovated church and sanctuary. The ceremony was presided over by the Eparchial Bishop, His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos, accompanied by a number of priests, religious sisters, and nearly 300 faithful attendees.
Brother George Conferred Minor Orders of M’Samarono and Korooyo
On August 29, 2025, Brother George Thomas Kochumalil was conferred the Minor Orders of M’Samarono and Korooyo by the Eparchial Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos. The reception of these orders marks an important milestone in Brother George’s priestly formation.
The liturgical celebration was attended by His Excellency Thomas Mar Eusebius, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Augustine Mangalath Corepiscopo, Rev. Michael Edathil, and the Cathedral Rector and Master of Ceremonies, Very Rev. Noby Ayyaneth.
Cenacle 2025: A Transformative Experience in Faith and Leadership
Cenacle 2025 was a unique and spiritually enriching retreat held from Friday, August 1 to Monday, August 4, 2025, at the serene Carmelite Retreat Center in Darien, IL. With the theme of Servant Leadership rooted in Luke 22:25-30, the event offered attendees a transformative experience of faith, leadership, and community.

Rev. Sr. Jocelyn Edathil, SIC, Makes Perpetual Profession of Vows at St. Mary's Cathedral, Trivandrum
In a solemn and joyous liturgical celebration, Rev. Sr. Jocelyn Edathil of the Sisters of the Imitation of Christ (SIC) made her Perpetual Profession of Vows on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at St. Mary's Malankara Syrian Catholic Major Archeparchial Cathedral in Pattom, Trivandrum. The ceremony was presided over by His Grace Archbishop Thomas Mor Koorilos, the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Archieparchy of Tiruvalla.
The Eparchy rejoices with Sr. Jocelyn and the SIC congregation on this blessed occasion, praying that her witness inspires many to consider the call to religious life.
World Day of Prayer for Vocations
On this World Day of Prayer for Vocations, the Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy of the United States and Canada joins the universal Church in lifting our hearts in prayer for an outpouring of vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life. Instituted by Pope St. Paul VI in 1964, this special day is an invitation to the faithful to pray fervently that more young men and women may hear and respond generously to the Lord’s call to serve the Church.
Habemus Papam! Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, O.S.A., Elected as the 267th Pope — Takes the Name Leo XIV
With profound joy and gratitude to the Holy Spirit, the Eparchy rejoices at the historic election of His Eminence Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, O.S.A., of the United States, as the 267th Supreme Pontiff of the Holy Catholic Church. Chosen by the College of Cardinals during the conclave convened at the Vatican, the newly elected Pope has taken the name Leo XIV.
