Purchase of the School Building Complex in Elmont, New York

It is with profound gratitude to God that St. Mary, Queen of Peace Eparchy realized its long-cherished dream of purchasing the school building complex on September 1, 2021, with the intention of developing a Pastoral and Charitable Center, in Elmont, New York. The Eparchy expresses its heartfelt gratitude to H.E. Philipos Mar Stephanos who worked tirelessly to see this dream come to fruition, and to our former Eparch, H.E. Thomas Mar Eusebius who laid the foundation for the Eparchy to pursue this dream.

2021 Clergy Appointments

The Eparchial Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos, announces the following clergy appointments:

APOSTOLATES
Very Rev. Dr. Saji Mukkoot is appointed as the Director of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Missions in the United States effective October 1, 2021.
Rev. Fr. Michael Edathil is appointed as the Eparchial Director of Family Apostolate effective September 1, 2021.
Rev. Fr. Jerry Mathew is appointed as the Eparchial Director of the MCYM effective September 1, 2021.

Ayakyapettavar! അയക്കപ്പെട്ടവർ

അയക്കപ്പെട്ടവർ (Ayakyapettavar!). This word in English means 'the ones who were sent'.

The Church enters into the Apostolic Lent or also called as Apostles Fast, which commemorates the apostolicity of the Holy Church built on the apostles and dedicates to the Holy Church.

The Church has always presented with examples of the importance of the Apostles to us. To walk through this legacy and attain great knowledge by knowing them, representatives from various Malankara Catholic Eparchies will be sharing their knowledge & information about the Holy Apostles.

MCYM Chai & Chat

MCYMNA hosted a virtual Chai & Chat session on June 1st at 7:30 pm with a theme centralized around Asian American Heritage month in May. The speaker, Fr. Thomas Betz gave an excellent presentation on Asian American history and how the Catholic faith plays a transformative role in the current social and political environment surrounding violence and hate crimes committed against the Asian communities. The attendees were very engaged and enthused by Fr. Betz's knowledge on the topic as well as his lasting relationship with the Malankara community.

World Blood Donor Day 2021

World Blood Donor Day takes place on June 14 each year. The aim is to raise global awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products for transfusion and of the critical contribution voluntary, unpaid blood donors make to national health systems.

13 Day Fast (Sleeha Nombu)

Wednesday, June 16 is the beginning of the 13-day lent known as 'Sleeha Nombu', which in English translates to the 'Apostles Fast.' The practice of this fast means following in the footsteps of the Apostles (Heb. 13-7) who observed it in fulfillment of the Lord Jesus' words: "The days will come when the Bridegroom shall be taken from them and then shall they fast." (Matt 9:15). After the Ascension of the Lord Jesus to heaven and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples, they started to fast.

June 5 World Environment Day

June 5 World Environment Day
The United Nations started the Environment Day celebration on June 5, 1972. The aim of Environment Day is to protect trees and forests, expand forest areas, ensure global environmental balance and climate sustainability.
This day stands as a reminder to each one of us to protect nature. Every year this day is celebrated with a message. The Environment Day message of 2021 is 'Environmental Restoration'.
