New Initiative by the Youth Empowerment & Integration Commission of the Pastoral Council

The Youth Empowerment & Integration Commission of the Eparchy has undertaken a new podcasting project. They will be releasing podcasts every so often, and it will be about topics regarding our faith and daily lives.

Extraordinary Urbi et Orbi Blessing from Pope Francis on March 27

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Pope Francis will offer an extraordinary blessing of Urbi et Orbi on Friday, March 27, 2020, at 1 PM Eastern Time (6 p.m. Rome time). All those who are present for the blessing via TV, radio or the internet, and who are truly sorry for their sins, can have the possibility of receiving a plenary indulgence. The Urbi et Orbi blessing (which means “to the city of Rome and to the world”) is performed from the balcony to St. Peter’s Square when a new pope is elected and on Christmas and Easter Sunday. Northeast Regional Bible Convention 2020

The Northeast Bible Convention of St. Mary, Queen of Peace Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy led by Rev. Fr. Daniel Poovannathil & team will be held on July 9 -12, 2020 at St. Vincent De Paul Syro-Malankara Catholic Cathedral in Elmont, New York. Rt. Rev. Msgr. Geevarghese Mannikarottu Corepiscopo is called to eternal rest

Rt. Rev. Geevarghese Mannikaottu Corepiscopo entered his eternal rest at 3 AM (IST) on February 29, 2020, at Kims Hospital, Trivandrum. He will be brought home at Kaithaparampu near Adoor, Kerala at 6 pm on Sunday. His Beatitude Baselios Cardinal Cleemis will officiate prayers at Mannikarottu Corepiscopo's home at 1 pm on Monday and the funeral service will be at Manchadimukku St. Ignatius Syro Malankara Catholic Church at 2.30 pm on Monday.

New Marriage Assessors and Notary for the Eparchial Tribunal.

The Eparchial Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos, has appointed two marriage assessors to the Eparchial Tribunal. The new appointees are Mr. George James & Dr. Jasmine Thomas. Their roles as assessors are to help evaluate the evidence (proofs) for the Tribunal who will judge the case. Both Mr. George James and Dr. Jasmine Thomas took the oath of fidelity in the presence of the Eparchial Bishop and Rev. Dr. George Oonnoonny, the Judicial Vicar of the Eparchial Tribunal. The St. Mary, Queen of Peace Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy in the USA & Canada extends hearty congratulations and prayerful best wishes to Archbishop-elect Nelson Perez, who has been appointed as the 14th Bishop and 10th Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia on January 23, 2020, by His Holiness Pope Francis. The St. Mary, Queen of Peace Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy remains deeply indebted to Archbishop Charles Chaput, the outgoing Archbishop, for all the friendship and support extended to us.

St. Jude's Syro-Malankara Catholic Church Philadelphia moves to Bensalem, PA

The St. Jude Syro-Malankara Catholic Parish has moved from their church in Philadelphia to a new place of worship located in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. On January 19, the Holy Qurbono was celebrated in the new church by the Eparchial Bishop His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos. After the Qurbono, a luncheon was held for all the participants. During the luncheon, the MCYM presented a video presentation of all the activities which had taken place at their old church. St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church belonged to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and it has a seating capacity of 650.

Marriage Preparation (Pre-Cana) course

The Marriage Preparation (Pre-Cana) course, organized by the Department of Family Apostolate, will be held on March 21 - 22, 2020 at the Bishop Molloy Retreat Center in Jamaica, New York. The registration fee is $250 and this includes boarding, food. The course will start at 8 AM on Saturday and will conclude at 3 PM on Sunday. The Marriage Preparation (Pre-Cana) course is being organized by Rev. Fr. Mathai Mannoorvadakkethil, Director of the Department of Family Apostolate in the Eparchy. Kindly note that payment should be received 8 days before the Pre-Cana course

Silver Jubilee of Rev. Sr. Litty Maria D.M.

The St. Joseph’s Syro-Malankara Catholic Parish, Detroit celebrated the Silver Jubilee of the religious life of Rev. Sr. Litty Maria DM on Thursday, November 28. The Eparchial Bishop, His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos, presented Sr. Litty with a ponnada as a sign of appreciation for having completed 25 years of religious life. Blessing of St. Peter's Syro-Malankara Catholic Church Rockland

A long-cherished dream of St. Peter’s Syro-Malankara Catholic Parish, one of the three New York-based parishes in the Eparchy, is blessed with a beautiful place of worship of its own in Rockland county. The parish community has been able to purchase the historic Greenbush Presbyterian Church in Blauvelt, NY. The blessing of the newly renovated Church and the Holy Qurbono was celebrated on November 23, 2019. The Holy Mass was presided over by His Excellency the Most Rev.
