66th Mar Ivanios Day Celebrated

The 66th anniversary of the heavenly journey of the Servant of God Mar Ivanios was celebrated by the Eparchy on Saturday, July 6, 2019. The celebration was held at St. Vincent de Paul Malankara Catholic Cathedral and included Dhoopa praarthana after Solemn Holy Qurbono. His Excellency the Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos presided over the liturgical celebration. His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Kurt Burnette, His Excellency Most Rev. Yoohanon Mar Chrysostom, and His Excellency Most Rev. Jacob Mar Angadiath were present during the celebrations along with Rt. Rev. Msgr.

Deacon Jobin Thomas Graduates

Deacon Jobin Thomas graduated from St. Joseph's Seminary, Dunwoodie, on May 10, 2019. He received his Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Theology, and Bachelor of Sacred Theology. Having now completed his course in Dunwoodie, Deacon Jobin will be spending some time in Kerala undergoing intensive Liturgical training.

New Cor-episcopoi for the Eparchy

The Holy Episcopal Synod of the Syro Malankara Catholic Church has graciously accorded to confer the Sacred Priestly Honor of ‘Cor-episcopo’ to Rt. Rev. Monsignor Peter Kochery and Rt. Rev. Monsignor Augustine Mangalath of our Eparchy. His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos has kindly consented to officiate the function on July 6, 2019 Saturday at 9.30 AM. Convention Souvenir Release

The souvenir of the 10th Syro-Malankara Catholic Convention held from August 2 to 5 at the Hilton Hotel in Stamford, Connecticut was released on April 11. His Excellency Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos released the souvenir and handed over the first copy to Mr. Philipose Mathew, Secretary of the Eparchial Pastoral Council and Mr. John P. Varghese, General secretary of the 10th Syro Malankara Catholic Convention . The Chairman of the Souvenir Committee, Rev. Fr. Sunday School Eparchial Board Members Meeting

A meeting of the members of the Sunday School Board of the Eparchy was held at the Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchial Chancery, on February 2nd, 2019. The meeting was presided over by the Eparchial Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos. The following members attended the meeting: Rev. Fr. Abraham Lukose, Eparchial Sunday School Director, Rev. Sr. Dr. Jocelyn Edathil, S.I.C; Rev. MCYM East Regional Retreat

On March 9, 2019, MCYM East had a Lenten retreat from 9 AM to 4 PM at St. Mary’s Yonkers Church. The topic was “Being United in Christ in All Things” and the main speaker was Mr. Savio Paul, a second-year seminarian studying for the Archdiocese of New York. Approximately 25 youth from the Eastern region, participated in the retreat, which was a blessed occasion for all who attended. Deacon Jobin Thomas and Sr. Jocelyn Edathil were also present during the retreat.

Visit of Bishop John Barres

On Sunday, February 17, Most Rev. John O. Barres, the Bishop of the Diocese of Rockville Centre made a friendly visit to the Eparchial Chancery. The Eparchial Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos warmly greeted Bishop Barres and they had breakfast.

India Catholic Association

On Saturday, February 9, His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos attended the 2019 Committee Inauguration and Handing Over ceremony for the India Catholic Association of America (ICAA).
