Pastoral Council Meeting

On October 23, 2021, a meeting of the Eparchial Pastoral Council was held in the Eparchial Chancery at 11 AM. The Eparchial Bishop, His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos presided over the meeting. The agenda of the meeting was the Eparchial level inauguration on the sharing of the theme of “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, and Mission,” which is to be held in the universal church in 2023 in Rome, to provide an update and development of the proposed Pastoral Center, and pastoral planning of the Eparchy.

Eparchial Day

The 2021 Eparchy Day celebration was held on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at the St. Vincent de Paul Cathedral in Elmont, New York. The celebrations began with the solemn concelebrated Holy Qurbono at 9:00 a.m. with the Eparchial Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos, the Main Celebrant. The celebration concluded with agape in the Cathedral Hall in which everyone could share the joy of Eparchial fellowship once again.

Synod 2021-2023: For A Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, Mission

Pope Francis has approved a new three-stage process for the next gathering of the Synod of Bishops; this process continues his efforts to reform the Catholic Church in accordance with the teachings of the Second Vatican Council. His aim is to involve the whole church at diocesan, national and continental levels through a process of “listening and discernment” on the important theme of synodality: “For a synodal Church: communion, participation, and mission.”

“A Day of Prayer for Our Families”

The Family Apostolate of the Eparchy will be conducting a "Day of Prayer for Families" on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at St. Vincent de Paul Syro-Malankara Catholic Cathedral (1500 Depaul Street, Elmont, New York, 11003).

The schedule of the day's event is as follows:
8:30 am - Holy Qurbono
10 am – 5 pm Chain Rosary every hour
5 pm - Evening Prayer
6 pm – Benediction

Appointment of Rev. Noby Ayyaneth as Director of Malankara Catholic Pastoral Center

The Eparchial Bishop, His Excellency Most Rev. Philipos Mar Stephanos, has appointed Rev. Fr. Noby Ayyaneth as the Director of the Malankara Catholic Pastoral Center. He took charge of this office on October 16. The Eparchy offers its prayerful best wishes to Rev. Fr. Noby Ayyaneth on this new endeavour.

Bishop Stephanos attends Columbus Day Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral, New York

The Eparchial Bishop, His Excellency Philipos Mar Stephanos, and Rev. Fr. Jobin Thomas attended the 44th annual Columbus Day Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral on October 11, 2021. The annual Mass celebrates Italian heritage and the unique contribution of Italian Americans to New York City and the country. Timothy Cardinal Dolan, the Archbishop of New York, was the principal celebrant.

Appointment of Rev. Dr. Saji Mukkoot as Director of Malankara Catholic Missions in the USA

The Eparchial Bishop, His Excellency Most Rev. Philipos Mar Stephanos, has appointed Rev. Dr. Saji Mukkoot as the Director of Malankara Catholic Missions in the United States. He took charge of this office on October 1, 2021. The Eparchy offers its prayerful best wishes to Rev. Dr. Saji Mukkoot on this new endeavour.

Appointment of Fr. Babu Madathiparambil in Philadelphia

The Eparchial Bishop, His Excellency Most Rev. Philipos Mar Stephanos, has appointed Rev. Fr. Babu Madathiparambil as the new Pastor of St. Jude Syro-Malankara Catholic Church of Philadelphia. He took charge of the parish on October 1, 2021. Fr. Babu was previously serving the St. Mary Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, Chicago as Pastor for the past 7 years. The Eparchy extends a hearty welcome to Fr. Babu Madathiparambil and wishes him God's blessings.

Meeting with Daniel Cardinal DiNardo, Archbishop of Galveston-Houston

The Eparchial Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos met with His Eminence Daniel Cardinal Dinardo, the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston and Most Rev. Italo DellOro, Auxiliary Bishop of Galveston Houston, at the Chancery Office in Houston. Rev. Fr. Binny Philip, the Pastor of the St. Peter's Syro-Malankara Catholic Church in Houston was also present.
