Fr. Jerry Mathew has been awarded a Gold Medal by the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome in recognition of his outstanding academic achievement in doctoral studies in Theology, specializing in Youth Ministry. He earned Summa Cum Laude, securing full marks (30/30) in all coursework, the doctoral dissertation, and its defence.

His doctoral dissertation, titled “A Family-Based Model for Adolescents’ Faith Education: An Empirical-Theological Study in the Context of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy in the United States of America,” explores the vital role of the family in nurturing and strengthening the faith of adolescents.

This achievement is particularly noteworthy because Fr. Mathew pursued his doctoral studies while serving as pastor of the Chicago Malankara Catholic Parish, translating and publishing various liturgical texts, and guiding the Eparchy’s youth as Director of MCYMNA.

This marks Fr. Mathew’s second Gold Medal from the Pontifical Salesian University. He previously received the same distinction upon completing his Licentiate degree in 2020.

The Queen of Peace Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy extends its heartfelt congratulations to Fr. Jerry Mathew and wishes him God’s abundant blessings in his continued priestly ministry, academic pursuits, and dedicated service to the Church.
