Congratulations to Bishops Elect
On Friday, June 08, the Holy Father appointed two auxiliary bishops for the Diocese of Rockville Centre. Pope Benedict XVI has named Msgr. Robert J. Brennan, 50, a pastor and vicar general of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, New York, and Msgr. Nelson J. Perez, 50, a pastor in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, as auxiliary bishops for the Diocese of Rockville Centre.
Born in 1962, Bishop-elect Brennan has been a priest for the Diocese of Rockville Centre since 1989. He served as secretary to three bishops of Rockville Centre (Bishop John McGann, Bishop James McHugh, and Bishop William Murphy) and most recently served the diocese as its vicar general and, since 2010, as pastor of St. Mary of the Isle Parish in Long Beach.
Born in 1961, Bishop-elect Perez was ordained a priest in 1989 for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. He has served in a number of pastoral assignments and is best known for being the founding director of the Archdiocesan Institute for Evangelization.
Bishop William Murphy, Bishop of Rockville Centre, will ordain the newly appointed auxiliary bishops on July 25, 2012 at Saint Agnes Cathedral. Bishop Elect Brennan will continue to serve as Vicar General. Bishop Elect Perez will serve as Vicar for the Eastern Region.
The Syro-Malankara Catholic Exarchate joins the Diocese of Rockville Centre and the Church Universal in congratulating the Diocese and the Bishops-elect. We look forward to building and strengthening our ecclesial fellowship with the Diocese of Rockville Centre, a diocese which has so greatly assisted the Exarchate.
To the Bishops-elect: Ad multos annos.
