Convocation 2012
The vicar general, Rev. Msgr. Peter Kochery, and the bishop’s secretary, Rev. Abraham Lukose, attended the ceremony representing the Bishop and the Exarchate. Members of Brother Markose’s family were also in attendance.
As part of the seminary restructuring and merger announced last fall, the seminarians from Huntington will be moving up to St. Joseph Seminary in Dunwoodie this fall. A special Mass was celebrated by the Most Reverend William Murphy, Bishop of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, on Friday, May 18th, to mark the end of the academic year and the conclusion to Huntington’s 82 year role in the formation of candidates to the priesthood. As part of the restructuring, the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception will become a center for the new evangelization and continue to function as center of learning and scholarship. It will also house the Sacred Heart Institute for Ongoing Priestly Formation.
The Exarchate is grateful to Bishop Murphy for his assistance in providing scholarships to our seminarians that they might study in Huntington.
