New Auxiliary Bishops for the Diocese of Rockville Centre
The Syro-Malankara Catholic Apostolic Exarchate in the United States and its Bishop, the Most Reverened Thomas Mar Eusebius, extend cordial greetings to the Diocese of Rockville Centre on the occasion of the ordination of two new auxiliary bishops for Rockville Centre.
On Wednesday, July 25, the Most Rev. William Murphy, Bishop of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, ordained Msgr. Robert J. Brennan and Msgr. Nelson J. Perez, as auxiliary bishops. Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, greeted the new bishops on behalf of the Holy Father and Bishop Murphy delivered the homily. Archbishop Charles Chaput, of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and Bishop Paul Walsh, Auxiliary Bishop of Rockville Centre, served as the principal co-consecrators. A number of other bishops, including the Bishop of the Exarchate, Most Rev. Thomas Mar Eusebius, concelebrated and were present to welcome the new bishops to the episcopal college.
Bishop Brennan will continue to serve as the Vicar General for the Diocese of Rockville Centre. Bishop Perez will serve as Vicar for the Eastern Region of the Diocese.
The Diocese of Rockville Centre has been and continues to be among the strongest supporters of the Exarchate. The Exarchate congratulates the Diocese and the newly ordained bishops and wishes them well in their pastoral ministry. Ad multos annos.
