The Service of the Washing of the Feet

His Excellency the Most Rev. Thomas Mar Eusebius, Bishop of the Exarchate conducted the Maundy Thursday service of the washing of the feet at the St. Jude’s Malankara Catholic Parish, Philadelphia on April 2, 2015. The service started at 6.30 pm. with the evening prayers. This was followed by the service of the washing of the feet which was a first time experience for this parish. After this service, His Excellency presided over the solemn celebration of the Holy Qurbono. Rev. Fr. Saji Mukkoott, the Pastor of the Parish and Rev. Fr. Thomas Malayal, the former Pastor were concelebrants. After the Holy Qurbono, His Excellency conducted parish based registration Kick Off of the forthcoming Malankara Catholic Convention by receiving the registration form from some of the parishioners. His Excellency also distributed the awards to those members of the parish who topped the Exarchate level Bible Quiz competition. In the Malankara traditions only bishops conduct the service of the washing of the feet.
