Liturgical Season:

Rom 15:7-13

God’s Fidelity and Mercy.* 7Welcome one another, then, as Christ welcomed you, for the glory of God.f 8For I say that Christ became a minister of the circumcised to show God’s truthfulness, to confirm the promises to the patriarchs,g 9but so that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written:

“Therefore, I will praise you among the Gentiles

and sing praises to your name.”h

10And again it says:i

“Rejoice, O Gentiles, with his people.”*

11And again:

“Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles,

and let all the peoples praise him.”j

12And again Isaiah says:

“The root of Jesse shall come,

raised up to rule the Gentiles;

in him shall the Gentiles hope.”k

13May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the holy Spirit.l

Mt 2:19-23

The Return from Egypt. 19When Herod had died, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt 20and said,f “Rise, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the child’s life are dead.”* 21He rose, took the child and his mother, and went to the land of Israel. 22But when he heard that Archelaus was ruling over Judea in place of his father Herod,* he was afraid to go back there. And because he had been warned in a dream, he departed for the region of Galilee. 23* g He went and dwelt in a town called Nazareth, so that what had been spoken through the prophets might be fulfilled, “He shall be called a Nazorean.”
