New Chancery and Bishop's Residence for the Exarchate

Elmont, NY – Thanks to the generosity of Bishop William Murphy and the Diocese of Rockville Centre, the Syro-Malankara Catholic Exarchate in the USA has a new chancery and bishop’s residence for its use. The new chancery was formerly the rectory of the Saint Vincent DePaul Parish in Elmont, NY.

On Sunday, June 2, following the Holy Qurbono at the St. John Chrysostom Pro-Cathedral, the new chancery will be blessed by the Bishop of the Exarchate. In addition to being the official residence of the Bishop of the Exarchate, the chancery will also house the offices of the Bishop, Vicar General, Chancellor, and Secretary to the Bishop. It will also serve as the venue for exarchial meetings, including the Pastoral Council. The purchase of the building (the process is on) reflects the growth of the Exarchate and the continued fraternal relationship between the Syro-Malankara Catholic Apostolic Exarchate in the USA and the Diocese of Rockville Centre.
