With profound joy and gratitude to the Holy Spirit, the Eparchy rejoices at the historic election of His Eminence Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, O.S.A., of the United States, as the 267th Supreme Pontiff of the Holy Catholic Church. Chosen by the College of Cardinals during the conclave convened at the Vatican, the newly elected Pope has taken the name Leo XIV.

This momentous occasion marks a new chapter in the life of the Church. Pope Leo XIV brings a wealth of pastoral, academic, and administrative experience, faithfully serving the Church in numerous capacities, most recently as Prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops. As a member of the Order of St. Augustine (O.S.A.), his formation is deeply rooted in the values of community, humility, and a zealous commitment to the Gospel.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Pope Leo XIV becomes the first Augustinian and American Pope in the history of the Church. His election reflects the universality of the Catholic Church and signals a hopeful and pastoral vision for the future.

The Eparchy joins the universal Church in offering prayers of thanksgiving for the gift of a new Shepherd. We pledge our filial obedience, love, and support to Pope Leo XIV as he begins his Petrine ministry. May the Lord grant him wisdom, courage, and the grace to lead the Church in truth and unity.

Ad multos annos , Pope Leo XIV!
