Soon to be Deacons of the Church
Gratefully acknowledging the miraculous providence of the Lord for His Church, the Syro-Malankara Catholic Exarchate in the USA happily announces the Ordinations of Bro. Lintu Markose and Bro. Michael Edathil to Diaconate, to be held at 9.00 am on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1500 De Paul Street, Elmont, New York 11003. The Ordination ceremony will be presided over by His Excellency the Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Eusebius, Bishop of the Exarchate. Very Rev. Msgr. Peter Vaccari, Rector, St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie, New York will deliver the homily during the liturgical celebration, representing His Excellency the Most Rev. Dr. William Murphy, Bishop of Rockville Centre. Brothers Lintu and Micheal are the first seminarians to receive the Ordination of Diaconate from any Catholic Church of Indian origin in America. The Diaconate Ordination is the immediately preceding ecclesial recognition before their Ordination to Priesthood.
Bro. Lintu Markose belongs to the St. Mary’s Syro-Malankara Catholic Parish, Chicago. He is the first of the two sons of Mr. Mathew Markose and Sherly Markose. His brother is Steve. After graduating High School, Lintu attended the Loyola University in Chicago, graduating in May 2008 with a B.A. in Theology and a B.A. in Philosophy. In August 2008 he entered the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, Huntington, New York as a first year theology student for the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church. He completed successfully his theological studies at the Huntington Seminary in May 2012, obtaining the Degree of Master of Divinity.
Bro. Michael Edathil belongs to the St. Jude Syro-Malankara Catholic Parish, Philadelphia. He is the youngest of the four children of Mr. Philip Edathil and Mrs. Rajamma George. His siblings are Aileen, Jocelyn, and John. He received a bachelor’s degree in business from Villanova University and a Masters in Theological Studies from the John Paul II Institute in Washington DC. In 2008 he joined the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, Huntington, New York as a first year theology student for the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church. After completing 3 years of theology studies he went to India and did a year of intensive course Philosophy along with some pastoral exposure program and returned to the US in June, 2012.
