Liturgical Season:

Phil 1:21-26

21For to me life is Christ, and death is gain.n 22If I go on living in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. And I do not know which I shall choose.o 23I am caught between the two. I long to depart this life and be with Christ, [for] that is far better.p 24Yet that I remain [in] the flesh is more necessary for your benefit. 25And this I know with confidence, that I shall remain and continue in the service of all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, 26so that your boasting in Christ Jesus may abound on account of me when I come to you again.

Lk 3:15-18

15k Now the people were filled with expectation, and all were asking in their hearts whether John might be the Messiah. 16* John answered them all, saying,l “I am baptizing you with water, but one mightier than I is coming. I am not worthy to loosen the thongs of his sandals. He will baptize you with the holy Spirit and fire. 17His winnowing fan* is in his hand to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.”m 18Exhorting them in many other ways, he preached good news to the people.
