Liturgical Season:
Special Significance:
V The Season of Pentecost

Eph 2:19-22

19So then you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the holy ones and members of the household of God,q 20built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets,r with Christ Jesus himself as the capstone.* 21Through him the whole structure is held together and grows into a temple sacred in the Lord;s 22in him you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.t

Jn 12:37-43

Unbelief and Belief Among the Jews. After he had said this, Jesus left and hid from them. 37* d Although he had performed so many signs in their presence they did not believe in him, 38* in order that the word which Isaiah the prophet spoke might be fulfilled:

“Lord, who has believed our preaching,

to whom has the might of the Lord been revealed?”e

39For this reason they could not believe, because again Isaiah said:

40“He blinded their eyes

and hardened their heart,

so that they might not see with their eyes

and understand with their heart and be converted,

and I would heal them.”f

41Isaiah said this because he saw his glory* and spoke about him.g 42Nevertheless, many, even among the authorities, believed in him, but because of the Pharisees they did not acknowledge it openly in order not to be expelled from the synagogue.h 43For they preferred human praise to the glory of God.i
