New Prayer Book for the Faithful

Elmont, NY - In conjunction with the Synodal Commission for the Liturgy, the Department of the Sacred Liturgy of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Exarchate is proud to present this prayer book for the faithful, which is the English translation of the daily prayers of the faithful. This prayer book contains prayers for all seven canonical hours as well as the additional prayers for the fasts. The prayer book also contains a detailed glossary with explanations of Syriac terms and prayers. The second part of the book contains devotional prayers and guide to confession.

Safe Environment Program

A course on safe environment for the priests of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Exarchate was conducted on July 11, 2013 under the auspices of the department for the protection of youth and children in the Exarchate. The course was conducted at the Don Bosco Retreat Center, Stony Point, New York. 24 priests participated in the course. Rev. Fr. John Bambrick, a priest of the Diocese of Trenton was the facilitator of the program.

Mar Ivanios Day Celebrations

The 60th Death Anniversary of Servant of God Archbishop Mar Ivanios was celebrated on July 14 at the St. Vincent de Paul premises, Elmont, New York. The celebration of the Holy Mass was presided over by His Grace the Most Rev. Thomas Mar Koorilos, Metropolitan Archbsihop of Tiruvalla. The concelebrants were His Excellency the Most Rev. Thomas Mar Eusebius, Very Rev. Fr. C. Wilson CM, Rev. Fathers Augustine Mangalath, Sunny Mathew, Sathyan Antony OIC, Abraham Lukose and Michael Edathil. Bible Orientation Camp

A three day long Bible Orientation Camp was organized for the catechism students of the Malankara Catholic parishes in the Tri-State New York area. The Camp was held at the St. Vincent de Paul Parish Hall, Elmont, New York, from July 12 through 14. Around 124 children took part in the camp. A team of 20 youth volunteers from the Tri-State parishes, under the leadership of Bro. Jerry Matthew was responsible for the organization of the camp. The Sunday School teachers of the Tri-State parishes extended their whole-hearted support.

Year of Faith Retreat for the Laity

As part of the Year of Faith celebrations of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Exarchate, a three day retreat was conducted at the St. Vincent de Paul auditorium, Elmont, New York from July 12 through 14, 2013. Rev. Fr. Bobby Jose Kattikad preached the retreat. On all the three days, the retreat started with the celebration of the Holy Mass at 9.30 am. and was concluded at 5.30 pm. with the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Around 500 people participated in the Retreat.

Exarchate Priests' Retreat

The Priests working in the Syro-Malankara Catholic Exarchate in USA and some other Malankara Catholic priests working in the Latin Dioceses in USA gathered at the Don Bosco Retreat Center, Stony Point, New York for their annual retreat in the presence of His Excellency the Most Rev. Thomas Mar Eusebius, the Bishop of the Exarchate. The retreat started on July 7 and was concluded on July 11, 2013. Renowned preacher and writer Rev. Fr. Bobby Jose Kattikad OFM Cap. preached the retreat. There were 30 participants in all.

The First Priest for the Exarchate

July 6, 2013 Doylestown, PA A day of great jubilation and thanksgiving, on July 6, 2013, Bishop Eusebius ordained the first priest for the Exarchate, Reverend Father Michael Edathil. Father Edathil is the first priest to be ordained by Bishop Eusebius, the first priest of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Apostolic Exarchate in the United States, and the first priest to be ordained for an Indian Catholic community in the United States.

On the Feast Day of St. Thomas, Bishop Eusebius Ordains Brother Jerry to the Minor Orders of M'Samrono-Quroyo

July 3, 2013 Elmont, NY -- On the Feast of Saint Thomas the Apostle, Bishop Eusebius ordained second-year theologian, Brother Jerry Mathew, to the minor orders of M'Samrono and Quroyo. These minor orders are given to seminarians usually at the completion of their first year of theological studies.
