Congratulations to Bishops Elect

On Friday, June 08, the Holy Father appointed two auxiliary bishops for the Diocese of Rockville Centre. Pope Benedict XVI has named Msgr. Robert J. Brennan, 50, a pastor and vicar general of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, New York, and Msgr. Nelson J. Perez, 50, a pastor in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, as auxiliary bishops for the Diocese of Rockville Centre.

Convocation 2012

On Thursday, May 17th, Brother Lintu Markose completed his studies at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington, New York. Along with seven of his classmates, he received his Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree on this day from the Seminary. There were a total of 39 graduates in total – in addition to the MDiv degree, the Seminary offers a Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies for candidates to the permanent diaconate, as well as a Master of Arts degree for seminarians and laity.

Visit to Archbishop of Dublin

His Excellency Thomas Mar Eusebius visited the Syro-Malankara Catholic community in Dublin (Ireland) as the Apostolic Visitator to Europe, and celebrated the Palm Sunday with our community there. Around 75 people participated in the celebration. Rev. Fr. Daniel Kulangara, the Chaplain of the Syro-Malankara Catholic missions in UK and Ireland accompanied His Excellency. His Excellency had a meeting with His Grace the Most Rev. Martin Diermuid, Archbishop of Dublin on March 31. The Archbishop offered to extend all possible assistance in promoting the Syro-Malankara Catholic mission in Dublin.

Chicago Convention Kick-off

Following the celebration of the Divine Liturgy at St. Mary’s Malankara Catholic Parish on 19 February 2012, His Excellency Dr. Thomas Mar Eusebius kicked off the registration for the forthcoming Syro-Malankara Catholic Exarchate Convention to be held in August 2012. Seven parishioners came forward to be Golden Sponsors for the Convention. They received their registration kit from His Excellency. In addition, several parishioners came forward to register for the Convention.

Chicago Parish Establishment

On 19 February 2012, His Excellency Dr. Thomas Mar Eusebius, Bishop of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Exarchate canonically elevated the St. Mary’s Syro-Malankara Catholic Mission of Chicago to the level of a parish of the Exarchate. During the solemn celebration of the Divine Liturgy, His Excellency read out the Decree of Establishment. Afterwards, he handed over the decree to the pastor Rev. Mathew Perumbillikunnel, the secretary Mr. Benjamin Thomas, the treasurer Mr. Abraham (Renjan) Varughese, and Bars Itho Britho Mrs. Achamma John Mathai.

Convention Kick-Off Toronto

On Sunday, 01 April 2012, the Vicar General of the Exarchate, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Peter Kochery, celebrated the Ooshana (Palm Sunday) Service at St. Mary’s Malankara Catholic Mission, Toronto. After the Palm Sunday service, Msgr. Kochery was the main celebrant for the solemn Holy Qurbono. Following the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, Msgr. Kochery kicked off the registration for the forthcoming Syro-Malankara Catholic Exarchate Convention to be held in August 2012. Mr.Francis Thazhamon and Mr.John Thomas came forward to be Golden Sponsors for the Convention.

Condolences on the death of Cardinal Daoud

The Syro-Malankara Catholic Apostolic Exarchate in the United States expresses its deepest condolences to the Syrian Catholic Church and the family of the late Ignace Moussa I Cardinal Daoud. Cardinal Daoud entered his eternal rest on 7 April 2012. With his passing, the Church has lost one of its finest Eastern Catholic leaders, a dedicated bishop, a loving servant, and most especially, a faithful Catholic. The Syro-Malankara Catholic Exarchate joins the Church Universal in mourning for the departed Cardinal.

Talents Mix Ticket Sale Inauguration

The inaugural ticket sale of ‘Talents Mix’, the fund raising cultural program to be presented by the Syro-Malankara Catholic Exarchate on May 6 at the Colden Center Auditorium, Queens College, was held at 11.00 am on January 28 at the Exarchate Center at New Hyde Park, New York. The first ticket was handed over to the Grand Sponsor of the program Mr. Shaji, by His Excellency the Most Rev. Thomas Mar Eusebius. All the Rev.
