Maundy (Holy) Thursday

ELMONT, N.Y – On Wednesday evening, March 27, His Excellency Mar Eusebius celebrated the phesaho services at St. John Chrysostom Pro-Cathedral. He was assisted by Reverend Fathers Abraham Lukose and Sathyan Antony, OIC. At the conclusion of the canonical hours, His Excellency washed the feet of twelve male parishioners, anointing them with oil, and kissing them. This action commemorates the humility of our Lord as He washed the feet of the Apostles at the Last Supper. Afterwards, His Excellency had his feet washed by Rev. Fr. Palm Sunday

DOUGLASTON, QUEENS – On Sunday, March 24, His Excellency Mar Eusebius led the St. Basil Malankara Catholic community in the Palm Sunday services. The liturgical service for Palm Sunday begins at the conclusion of the thuyobo and involves the blessing and distribution of palms, a solemn procession commemorating the Lord’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem, and the exaltation of the cross (zuyoho). The service was followed by a solemn celebration of the Holy Qurbono, during which Rev. Fr. Sathyan, OIC, concelebrated with His Excellency.


Malankara Exarchate in the March for Life 2013

It was a cold and blustery morning, on Friday January 25, 2013 in Washington D.C, as thousands of people from all over the country gathered together at the annual March for Life. Held every year in the nation’s capitol in remembrance of the fateful decision that was made in the court case Roe vs. Wade to make abortion legal, this March, like other’s before it, gathered together people of all nations, cultures and religions in solidarity to represent the millions of unheard voices of those who had lost their lives to abortion.

New York Region Catechism Teachers’ One Day Seminar

The Catechism teachers of the New York Tristate Region gathered on Saturday, January 26 at the auditorium of the St. Vincent de Paul Church, Elmont for a one day seminar. Mrs. Karla McKenzie, the Director, Faith Formation Resource Center, Valley Stream took class for the participants and guided the seminar. More than 50 catechism teachers from the five New York Region Tristate parishes participated in the seminar. The seminar was inaugurated by His Excellency Dr. Thomas Mar Eusebius. New York Tristate Region Youth Night

The MCYM members of the five parishes in the New York Tristate Region conducted a Youth Night at the St. Vincent de Paul Church auditorium, Elmont on January 12, 2013. There were around 150 youth participants and also as many parents. The Youth Night was inaugurated by His Excellency Dr. Thomas Mar Eusebius. The youth from our five parishes performed exciting cultural shows on the stage. It was a great time being together and enjoying together the cultural talents of our youth. The First Cardinal of the Malankara Church

The Head and Father of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis, Major Archbishop Catholicos was received to the College of Cardinals of the Universal Church by His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI during a very impressive ceremony held at the St. Peter's Basilica, Rome on November 24, 2012. H.B. Baselios Cardinal Cleemis is the first Cardinal of the Malankara Church and the youngest Cardinal in the College of Cardinals.

Inauguration of the celebration of the Year of Faith in the Exarchate

The celebration of the Year of Faith, declared by the Holy Father for the Universal Church, was officially inaugurated in the Syro-Malankara Catholic Exarchate by His Excellency the Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Eusebius on November 17 in the St. Thomas Syro-Malankara Catholic parish, New Jersey during the Exarchate Pastoral Council Meeting. Also present on the occasion were Rev. Monsignor Peter Kochery, Vicar General of the Exarchate and many of priests and pastoral council members of the Exarchate.

Rev. Monsignor Peter Kochery, the Vicar General of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Exarchate, who has been honored by the Holy Father with the title ‘Chaplain to the Holy Father’ was accorded an official felicitation by the Exarchate on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 at the St. Thomas Syro-Malankara Catholic parish in New Jersey by the Syro-Malankara Catholic Exarchate.
