Year of Faith Retreat for the Laity

As part of the Year of Faith celebrations of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Exarchate, a three day retreat was conducted at the St. Vincent de Paul auditorium, Elmont, New York from July 12 through 14, 2013. Rev. Fr. Bobby Jose Kattikad preached the retreat. On all the three days, the retreat started with the celebration of the Holy Mass at 9.30 am. and was concluded at 5.30 pm. with the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Around 500 people participated in the Retreat.

Exarchate Priests' Retreat

The Priests working in the Syro-Malankara Catholic Exarchate in USA and some other Malankara Catholic priests working in the Latin Dioceses in USA gathered at the Don Bosco Retreat Center, Stony Point, New York for their annual retreat in the presence of His Excellency the Most Rev. Thomas Mar Eusebius, the Bishop of the Exarchate. The retreat started on July 7 and was concluded on July 11, 2013. Renowned preacher and writer Rev. Fr. Bobby Jose Kattikad OFM Cap. preached the retreat. There were 30 participants in all.

The First Priest for the Exarchate

July 6, 2013 Doylestown, PA A day of great jubilation and thanksgiving, on July 6, 2013, Bishop Eusebius ordained the first priest for the Exarchate, Reverend Father Michael Edathil. Father Edathil is the first priest to be ordained by Bishop Eusebius, the first priest of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Apostolic Exarchate in the United States, and the first priest to be ordained for an Indian Catholic community in the United States.

On the Feast Day of St. Thomas, Bishop Eusebius Ordains Brother Jerry to the Minor Orders of M'Samrono-Quroyo

July 3, 2013 Elmont, NY -- On the Feast of Saint Thomas the Apostle, Bishop Eusebius ordained second-year theologian, Brother Jerry Mathew, to the minor orders of M'Samrono and Quroyo. These minor orders are given to seminarians usually at the completion of their first year of theological studies. Bishop Eusebius to Ordain Deacon Michael Edathil to the Priesthood on 7/6/13

Elmont, NY - June 20, 2013 - On Saturday, July 6, 2013, the Most Reverend Thomas Mar Eusebius, Bishop of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Exarchate in the USA, will ordain Deacon Michael Edathil to the priesthood. Deacon Edathil has been in formation at the Saint Joseph Seminary, Dunwoodie, NY and the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, Huntington, NY. He also completed a year of philosophical studies in India. He will be the first priest ordained for the Syro-Malankara Catholic Exarchate and the first ordained by His Excellency.

Year of Faith Holy Hour

On Sunday, June 2, 2013, Corpus Christi Sunday according to the Latin liturgical calendar, the Holy Father Pope Francis will lead a global Holy Hour with the bishops, clergy, and faithful of the Catholic family. Catholics throughout the Church will join together to adore the Lord in the Eucharist and will pray for the Holy Father's intentions.

Feast of Bishop Mar Eusebius

A Holy Qurbono of Thanksgiving will be celebrated by His Excellency at St. John Chrysostom Pro-Cathedral tonight at 6 pm to mark the occasion.

Deacon Michael Receives MDiv

Huntington -- On Tuesday, May 21, 2013, Deacon Michael Edathil received his Master of Divinity degree from the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception. The degree is awarded at the successful completion of four years of theological training. Along with his classmates, he received his Master of Divinity (MDiv) from the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception. In addition to the MDiv degree, the Seminary offers a Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies for candidates to the permanent diaconate, as well as a Master of Arts degree for seminarians and laity.
