MCYM Northeast Tristate Region Annual Lenten Retreat

HUNTINGTON, NY - On March 28th and 29th, the MCYM-Tristate (Malankara Catholic Youth Movement from the NY/NJ/CT) region held their annual Lenten retreat at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington, New York. The retreat was given by Rt. Rev. Msgr. James M. McDonald, a priest of the Diocese of Rockville Center and the pastor of St. Aidan Catholic Church in Williston Park. The Monsignor preached three talks: The Pearl of Great Price, The Mercy of God, and Vocations.

Bishop Thomas Mar Eusebius visits the Holy Father

ROME - March 27, 2014 - His Excellency Thomas Mar Eusebius, Bishop of the Exarchate visited the Holy Father Pope Francis on Wednesday, March 27 at the Vatican and conveyed the greetings and prayers of the Exarchate. The Holy Father extended his blessings to the Exarchate. This was His Excellency's first visit to the Holy Father Pope Francis. His Excellency was on an official trip to Rome in his capacity as the Episcopal Visitator to the Syro-Malankara Catholic priests studying at the Collegio Damasceno in Rome.

Patriarch Ignatius Zakka Of Antioch and All East Enters Eternal Rest

Syro-Malankara Catholic Apostolic Exarchate in USA offers prayerful condolences on the demise of His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I, Patriarch of the Universal Syriac Church of Antioch and of all the East. Malankara Catholic Mission of San Jose

On February 16, 2014, His Excellency the Most Rev. Thomas Mar Eusebius inaugurated the new Syro-Malankara Catholic Mission in San Jose, California. The function was held at the Knanaya Catholic church in San Jose. At 9.30 am. His Excellency was given a liturgical reception at the entrance of the church. New York Tri-State Regional Youth Night

The annual Youth Night for the New York Tri-state region was held on January 11, 2014 under the direction of the MCYM Tri-State Regional Board. The evening started at 5:30 pm with Evening prayer followed by Welcome Speech by Abraham Thomas (Regional President) and Director's Address by Rev. Fr. Michael Edathil. Msgr. Richard Figliozzi, Pastor of St. Catherine of Sienna Parish and Administrator of St. Vincent De Paul Parish, Elmont gave the Keynote address.

Legal Registration of the Exarchate

By the grace of God, the process of registering our Exarchate as a legal entity in the US has been successfully completed. The Exarchate has been registered as a Not-for Profit Incorporation having all the rights of a diocese with jurisdiction all of the country. The Exarchate is deeply thankful to Msgr. Alan Placa whose legal expertise in both Canon Law and Civil Law and whose generosity have been instrumental in this achievement.

Year of Faith Celebrations Concluded

The Year of Faith celebration of the Exarchate was concluded with an adoration to the Blessed Sacrament on November 23 at the St. Vincent de Paul church, Elmont. During the adoration Rev. Dr. Mathew Manakattu, former President of the Paurasthya Vidyapeetam, Kottayam shared reflections on how we have to carry forward the spirit of the Year of Faith. After the Holy Hour, prizes for the winners of the Year of Faith Bible Quiz competition were distributed. His Excellency Thomas Mar Eusebius officiated the prize distribution ceremony.

Concluding Celebration for the Year of Faith in the Exarchate

The official conclusion of the Year of Faith activities of the Exarchate shall be held at 5:00 pm on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the St. Vincent de Paul Cathedral in Elmont. The Year of Faith activities of the Exarchate included a year-long Bible Quiz competition across our parishes, classes by specially trained groups in our parishes on themes related to the Year of Faith, separate retreats for our Laity, Religious and Priests, etc.

New Pastor for the Houston Parish

On November 17, 2013, Rev. Fr. John S. Puthenvila assumed charge as the Pastor of the St. Peter’s Malankara Catholic Parish, Houston. After the Holy Mass celebrated by His Excellency Thomas Mar Eusebius, Father Puthenvila took charge from the outgoing Pastor Rev. Fr. Job Kalluvilayil. After the Holy Mass, a small meeting was conducted during which Rev. Fr. Job Kalluvilayil was given a fitting send off and Rev. Fr. John S. Puthenvila was given a cordial welcome. Sunday Prayers in English

Elmont, NY – The Department of the Sacred Liturgy in the Exarchate is happy to announce the publication of the new English translation of the Service Book of the Holy Qurbono with the Sunday Prayers. This new book contains the Sunday prayers of all the seven canonical hours of both the Qyamtho and Sleebo seasons and the Service Book of the Holy Qurbono. This book has been prepared by the Department of the Sacred Liturgy in the Exarchate in conjunction with the Synodal Commission for the Liturgy of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church.
